Elastics on braces? Can I take a break?

Okay so I got my elastics on tuesday and they still hurt, anyway I'm wondering if tomorrow I can take them out for about a hour and a half to go to a dance? I am supposed to wear them 24/7 and my next appointment is weeks away. So would it do too much damage if I take them out for a hour and a half or so?

An hour and a half out of the day should be fine.

Just don't get in the habit of leaving them out. You don't want braces any longer than necessary.

It doesn't do too much damage, as long as you put them in right away after. But remember, if the orthodontist told you to wear them all the time, it's because it's necessary so try not to make a habit of if.
