Why do my eyes cross when I'm tired?

    You are probably hyperopic. There are two things that happen when you focus. The first is accommodation. This is the change of shape of the lens inside your eye that allows you to see clearly at different distances. The second is convergence. Your eyes turn in so that they are pointed at a near object. These two things happen together. If you are hyperopic, you have to accommodate more and it drives your eyes to turn in. It is worse when you are tired. Read more about accommodative esotropia.
