Stuck between two boy names!?

Okay, We're sounthern and found two names that we love. Here they are, with my reasons for loving them.

1. John Shepherd (Because it sounds better than Shepherd John). He would go by Shepherd/Shep (formally Shepherd, Shep as a pet name that may or may not stick). John is my DH's late grandpa's name, and he was well loved and respected. I love the meaning of the name Shepherd: a gentle, kind leader.

2. Beckett Allen: I love this. Allen is DH's MN and he shares it with the aforementioned grandpa. My mom's name is Becky, and naming a girl Rebecca is out of the question. Becket seems like a wonderful way to honor my mom in a boy's name. I love the name itself also.

Both names are pretty equal as contenders and we love them both! Just need help choosing between them!

Update:

Edit: For the Frawggy (lol).

No kidding. ;) But feedback to know peoples first reactions to a name definitely helps me decide along the way. I've learned about more awesome names from using Internet search boards and asking questions than anywhere else.

To whoever said they were ugly: classy. I don't like some names, either, but geeze. I don't shoot down real names that have meaning!

Update 2:

Eta: Oh, and Frwaggy. I do kinda like John Shepherd better, but I love the feel of including my mom's name and am unsure if I'll get that chance again. I would love to use Beckett because it holds double the meaning.

I'm literally split 50/50

There's no way you would put all bets on Yahoo Answers for your future son's name.

When the time comes, I think you'll know exactly which name you'll like. Besides, don't you have to see your son first to know if he looks more like your grandfather or your mother? I may not get best answer for my opinions, but what if you put John Beckett together? It sounds like you have your heart leaning more towards John Shepherd.

    What do you think?

Beckett Allen. Actually Allen Beckett sounds better. It sounds something like rare and mysterious to me. It is awesome

John Sheppard sounds like German Sheppard, so I'd say the 2nd one.

    Good luck :)

I don't like either of them. They are both ugly. Sorry.
