Guinea pig owners.......toys for pigs?

I have bought toys from pet stores and they have no interest in them. Is this normal? What do your pigs like to play with? The only thing I can find that they like is toilet paper rolls stuffed with hay.

One thing my guinea pigs have always found entertaining is hanging sticks in their cage. I collect small sticks from outside, like 5cm long or so and I tie them together and hang them in their cage. They like swinging it around and trying to chew on it. My guinea pigs have never had an interest in pet shop toys either. Hidey houses would be my next recommendation. They love hiding and it keeps them happy and safe. Generally these are made out of wood or plastic if you decide to get an igloo shaped one. I also give my guinea pigs paper bags to hide in and chew on. They absolutely LOVE them, and it is non-toxic (same as cardboard boxes). I give my guinea pigs crumbled up pieces of paper as well, they find them slightly amusing. There's also old socks (you can stuff them with their bedding and they use them as pillows), tennis balls, ping pong balls, pine cones, mirrors... the possibilities are endless.
