bad oil pump or motor or what?

Question

Ok I have a dodge ram 1500 5.2lt 318 v8 .... 2wd .... ok so I'm driving home I turn into my road n it just dies... so I know it's not the battery bc the lights were still on. But I tried to jump it anyways no luck so I check my fuses all were good... tried to start it..no luck so I knee it had gas in but bought a lil more put in it still wouldn't start so thru.... I listened for the fuel pump when I turned they key it kicked on it cranks but wouldn't start left it sitting for a hour go back n it starts I immediately get it home which it stopped died once on way there but it started back up got it home n it wouldn't start back with the same signs lights worked it would crank but wouldn't start so called a guy he came n looked at it he finally got it to start he says my motor is knocking n that it's trying to lock up they it's shot... it sounds horrible but someone else told me could be oil pump

Check the oil level. When you turned into your driveway, a low oil level may have left the oil pump pickup tube uncovered.........then, with no oil to pump, you get zero oil pressure.....with no oil pressure the computer would cut the fuel flow and kill the engine. If it's knocking, it's probably "terminal" already.

i doubt it,s the oil pump ! sounds a lot like fuel ! it could be the fuel filter is clogged up ! if the pump is kicking on then change the filter !

it is probably NOT the oil pump.   they very seldom go bad.  Get another opinion from a mechanic that is not trying to rip you off.

I would suspec/t a plugged fuel line or fuel filter before a bad oil pump based on what yiu described.

The motor is junk. Don't bother putting any money into it, an oil pump will not fix this engine.
