What defines a girlfriend/boyfriend relationship?

So I've been talking this girl a lot lately, although it's only been a couple weeks overall. Last night, we were hanging out and cuddling and we kissed each other as well. We've been texting all day for most of the last week or so as well. At what point in a relationship is a girl or boy considered your girlfriend/boyfriend, rather than just dating? We are both 20 by the way.

Update:

I haven't said: "Do you want to go on a date with me?" But we have just agreed to hang out or do other stuff and she at least sounds like we have been dating now.

When you agree to be boyfriend and girlfriend. That's it, period. There is no grey area.

Don't push it. Labels are the last thing you want at our age.

Becoming exclusive isn't just something that happens.

That means you will have to turn the other way when a girl starts flirting

    and the same for her.

Asking her to become exclusive is a selfish thing.

    That being said.

    Becoming boyfriend and girlfriend

is something that has to be talked out and agreed upon.

It has less to do with time or closeness.

    It doesn't just happen.

One of you have to ask each other the big question! Maybe start off with a nice official date.
