Should the government stop employers from firing employees based on personal beliefs?

Update:

The rich 1% can't be allowed to take someone's job away so easily I say.

The last time I answered your question, I was reported. All for complimenting you.

Anyway, I can't answer because that's too broad.

For example, if someone's personal belief is "I should get paid without doing any work," then clearly they should be fired.

About the best I can offer is "when that belief does not impact the job, no." Even that's has a lot of interpretation to it.

The federal government is a big employer. Any chance they would fire employees based on personal beliefs?

Sure...IF those personal beliefs can negatively impact the public image of the company. Like the gay slurs delivered by the Robertson yuppy in public - you know, those folk who dresse up like a rednecks for money.

Check out these pics for the real Robertson family.

No, that's their First Amendment right.

You wanna take their Constitutional rights away? Uh-uh. Nope. Not gonna happen.

You can't be fired for what you believe. You can be fired for what you SAY. Especially when you are a spokesman. By your reasoning no company could ever fire their spokespeople.
