    Set up a proportion comparing ounces to gallons

    14 oz........x

    -------- = ---------......Cross multiply and solve for x

    70 gal.....20 gal

    ......14 oz (20 gal)

    x = ------------------......the 'gal' unit in the numerator and denominator

    ............70 gal............cancel

    x = 4 oz......................ANS

    Hello Marian ..: You have :

    -----------------------------------------

    NUTOZ = ( VWATER ) ( NUTOZPGAL )

    NUTOZ = ( 20 gal water ) ( 14 oz nut / 70 gal water )

    NUTOZ = 4.00 ounces of nutrient <----------------------------------

    20oz/70oz = = 28.57%

    You are making 28.57% of the full recipe,

    so use 28.57% nutrients

    14 oz * 0.2857 = 3.998 = 4 oz.
