Ingrown toenail question?

So last night I got an infected ingrown toenail removed @ the hospital & my toe is like super sore now. I've been soaking it in warm water & putting neosporin on it. But it hurts to even move my big toe or anything. What should I do to make the pain go away?

As long as there is not any new drainage from the toe I would say you are doing everything you can. You can take some kind of over the counter pain med to help, but for the most part you are feeling the residual effects of the infection plus the minor surgery to remove the offending nail. I have had one taken out before and the Doc cut the nail down to the quick before he removed it. That's gonna hurt for a few days in any case. I wrapped my toe in a few layers of gauze to cushion it for about 3-4 days before it settled down. I would keep up with the Doc's orders and with the neosporin until the pain subsides. If there is any new redness, swelling or nasty drainage spilling off of it I would check back in with the Doc. Best of luck.

when i get ingrown toenails i pull a cotton ball out into a thick string that is thin enough to push under my nail i soak it in tea tree oil ( or other antiseptic) and push it under the nail then around into the side of the toe where the infection is this offers a way to kill the infection and to raise the nail away from the flesh giving it time to heal, it will sting like crazy but after a while the pain dissipates and you'll just have a dull throb but the pain will be less than you're experiencing now unfortunately you'll just have to bear with the pain unless you can find some kind of topical numbing gel ( not sure it even exists).
