Dish TV reception in bad weather?

I recently lost all reception with my Dish TV during an ice storm due to ice build up on the dish. Can I use windshield deicer to de-ice my dish and restore reception? Would this cause any damage to the dish?

Update:

The question was will windshield de-icer de ice a satellite dish? Please try and limit your answers to the question I've asked.

The de-icer in the spray can might just loosen the ice - winter blend windshield washer fluid won't quite do it unless you have it really warm.

The ice is definitely causing the problem, and using a liquid to clean it won't cause any harm. Just be careful not to bump the dish.

Be aware that the weight of the ice may have also pulled the dish down a bit, so it may need to be re-aligned at some point even if you get a signal back.

Connect summer hose to laundry sink and run some hot water on it. Once ice is melted, dry with beach towel. Do NOT forget to drain and store the hose immediately. It WILL freeze solid once the hot water stops.
