A 2008 Silverado has six speakers with all working fine.?
Then five quit instantly leaving only the right rear speaker working. Then they come back on, go off, come on, go off. One comes on, goes off etc. Through all this the right rear continues to work. The dealer and radio shops say it is the speakers. I do not believe 5 of 6 would quit at once. I do not believe a bad speaker would come on and go off etc. What is it? Standard radio, nothing special. Does it have an amplifier somewhere that is messed up? How to fix it. Thanks for intelligent answers.

I'm not sure but I think your speaker covers come off revealing the speakers themselves. If you can, dismount and disconnect one of the failing speakers. If you have a mutli meter, put it on ohms and read across the speaker's terminals. You should read 4 or 8 ohms depending on the impedance of the speaker. You should also hear a slight crackling sound from the speakers from the voltage in the meter. This will at least quell your thoughts on "did all 5 go out at once?" I seriously doubt that.
I just hope you do not live in the Houston area where there is an outbreak of ants that eat the insulation off computer wiring. The positive side of this? They eat fire ants!

Well. if both the dealer AND radio shops say it's the speakers, then it must be the speakers. To me it sounds like a loose ground wire, but I can't say it is for sure without looking at it.
