Welding - is it possible to have the handle of a frying pan rewelded to the body of the pan?
I have a very expensive 16" sauté pan with cover that has a two-pronged handle that was welded to the side (not attached with rivets or screws. One of the prongs is loose. I hate to just throw it out, but also don't want to use an unsafe pan. Could a welding shop repair this? The handle prongs are quite narrow where they attach to the outside body of the pan - about the width of a pencil.

yes you could do that .
. But ~ if is a very expensive 16 in pan . i would call the mfg of the pan and ask them to replace it , it should not have broken , if they are a reputable company ,they will replace it .
send them an email with a couple of pics of the broken handle.

Like another person said I would try for a free replacement first...if no then yes a welding shop would do it. Odds are they would do a quick speedy tig weld, but would it be cheaper to replace it or repair it?

I had some welding done recently. They are equipped to meet most situations, I am sure they will be able to weld it and polish it up. But it must be strong because of safety.
