Is it normal for sugar gliders to still be in their pouches until 8 or so?
She's new and relatively young so I don't know if that could have anything to do with it.

They're nocturnal, and will not be up in the day. I hope you know that they NEEEEED to be kept in pairs or colonies. A lone glider will become depressed, sick, and die young. Human interaction won't make up for the time and play another glider has to offer.
Also, the cage should be at LEAST 24 " L x 12" W x 36" H. Small, one-story rodent cages should NOT be used.
A fresh, completely different meal should be provided each night made up of safe, blended veggies, and fruits. Glider pellets should only be offered as a side, not a main dish.
They are nice though, and fun, as long as you take proper care of them :) Have fun
