which next gen console is better for RPGs?

So I'm looking to buy either an Xbox one or ps4 in the neat future. I've always been into RPGs more than other kinds of games, particularly games where you choose a class and develop them your way as well as choose their appearance. Aka elder scrolls, dragon age, dragons dogma, reckoning, etc. The mass effect series was amazing as well. Not so much final fantasy. Anyways I'm curious as to which console looks like its geared toward these kinds of games? Thanks!!

As should be apparent by their advertising the PS4 and XBOX ONE are two completely different consoles. The Xbox one is more of a media device targeted at the average gamer (cod players) whereas the PS4 is targeted at the hardcore gaming market appealing to fans young and old, the type of people who take interest in said RPGs. Possibly the biggest RPG of the year elder scrolls online will be coming to both the PS4 and the Xbox One. Sony's support for the Online gaming industry and RPGs in general seems to be prevalent, they already have DCUO on the current generation of consoles and the next and we expect to see planet-side 2 coming very soon.

One of the biggest factors when it comes down to superiority is money and the fact is Microsoft has more money to spend which will often result in exclusive DLC for the Xbox one and or content arriving earlier. So there are benefits and limitations on both sides but the thing that should decide which console you endorse is the community.the company behind each console can only increase the experience up to a point the rest comes down to the community. I have had first hand experience with both and would have to say that the PlayStation network by far has the better community, however the Xbox one has more methods of socializing with said community. It is important to note that the PS4 is without a doubt the more powerful and future proof console, so unless u plan on upgrading again in the near future it is wise to go for the PS4 (as of now the selling point of the Xbox one is the kinect which is basically a hardware addon and a necessity for the Xbox one to stand out.)

I leave you this to decide which console to purchase but for RPGs the best choice will always be the PC. I'm looking forwards to The division which looks to be a promising PG which will run on both Consoles.

After reading the chosen answer I felt it should be stated that the chosen answer didn't really even address your question at all. Everything you mentioned are offline RPGs whereas everything Sebastien stated are more MMORPGs (Elder Scrolls Online, DCUO, Division, Planetside 2). They're still RPGs to an extent but still a greatly different animal than what you were asking about.

Actually addressing RPGs of the type you are asking about, I would say that even now after E3 it's too early to really tell which would be better for RPGs. For the most part there are only a few companies that actually do exclusive RPGs for PlayStation and those are Nippon Ichi Software, Idea Factory, Gust and Compile Heart. Your best bet is to look at the games those companies make and if they're games you want to play then PS4 is the right choice. Otherwise you might as well get go for Xbox One. I know this part might not apply anymore since it has been six months but I still wanted to say it in the event that in the future anyone else comes across this wondering the same thing.

Source(s): I have both Xbox One and PS4 and greatly enjoy both. They each have their pros and cons.

It's too early to tell since there haven't really been any RPGs on either console yet. Both are getting games like Dragon Age: Inquisition and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt next year, and likely the next Mass Effect game as well. Maybe in 2014 it'll be more obvious which direction each console is going in.

Nobody really knows this yet. Not many games have been announced yet for either system, but usually, RPG games come out for both systems. Thief is a sort of RPG game, it's coming out for both consoles and PC.
