Any recipes for horse treats WITHOUT sugar/molasses?
I hate that almost every horse treat recipe I come across uses mounds of molasses, honey or sugar. Have you come across any without those high-sugar options? Please share!

The apple oat chewies on this page do not call for molasses or sugar.

I found this on a forum:
BRAN BITS (EASY! NO COOKING!)
4 cups Bran
4 cups unsweetened Applesauce
Mix together. Batter should be doughy. Roll out with a rolling pin and cut into shapes with cookie cutters. Let dry at room temperature a day or more.
There are a few low-sugar recipes on this page:

I don't go the way of mixing/baking something up in the kitchen. For one, its not a natural food for horses. I used to have The Book of Horse Treats, but I threw it out. Every recipe in it had molasses, sugar or corn syrup to hold it together. I feed what a horse would choose to eat on his own. I make salads. Many veggies from the garden, especially cucs, grass etc and forage. from the other side of the fence. Two carrots/day will meet his daily needs for Vit A in its natural form and always an apple/day to keep the vet away. I gather their treats on my way to the barn and address nutrition at the same time. I can also add flax for inflammation, salt to drive thirst and yeast for a healthy tummy...all which they'll eat from your han

i make horse cookies all the time... i lernt in 4-H a couple years back. 1 cup carrot grated 1 apple grated 2 Tablespoons corn oil 1/4 cup molasses 1 tsp. salt 1 cup rolled oats 1 cup flour Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease cookie sheet. In a large bowl, mix carrot, apple, corn oil and molasses together. Then fold in salt, oats and flour until well mixed. Spread dough out in one big piece on the cookie sheet. Score dough with a knife to make it easier to break apart after baking. (Or try rolling dough out and cutting shapes with cookie cutters) Cook for 20 minutes or until brown. Let cool, break apart and serve.

Just give your horse apples or carrots for treats. Horses love them and they have no sweetener added.
