Usually Microsoft software products can be installed 3 times (either same computer or different). It happened to me with my Microsoft Office 2007 key. I was able to use the product key 3 times, installed twice on my machine and on my friends laptop. Later when I tried again it failed. It said the product key was reached it maximum use.

I think you can only use a key once.
