What's the most transparent audio format compatible with iTunes and the iPod Touch?
I have several gigabytes of ALAC on my iPod Touch 4th Gen but I'd like to convert those to a lossy format. Preferably a format virtually indistinguishable from ALAC or WAV. Thanks.

I don't use itunes or apple stuff, but I'm aware that for lossy, they use mp4 format (but since it's audio only and mp4 also supports video, the extension m4a is used to indicate mp4 that is only audio)
