First Impression appears, based on its website, to be a substantial and reliable outfit that offers both English and Western riding. No doubt they will direct you into whichever of those is appropriate for you.
You really should telephone them and ask what you should wear. It's likely that for a first lesson that they will supply you with a riding helmet, but you should have your own boots with heels, although you might be able to get away with almost any kind of solid shoes with heels and closed toes for the first lesson. It does not make sense to go and buy boots for a first lesson, only to discover that you got the wrong kind. Do ask them ahead of time about boots, helmet, gloves, pants, shirt, jacket and even underwear. Really!
As for being nervous, the riding instructor will almost certainly be someone who knows how to help people get past being nervous. You'll spend quite a bit of time just learning how to be comfortable with horses. The horse they have you ride will be an old veteran of thousands of lessons, one who works easily with absolute beginners.
If you're really worried about actually getting on the horse, ask to watch other people ride. You can do this any time, minutes, hours, days or weeks before your actual lesson. Lesson barns usually encourage new riders and potential new riders to watch carefully and see how it's done.
Years ago I was in a similar situation learning how to ski. I watched and watched, and finally got the courage to go and take the first lesson when I saw the three-year old children and the old guy with one leg skiing happily down the mountain. "If THEY can do it, then I can."
People have been riding horses successfully for thousands of years. They all started as beginners. You can do it, too!

If it is an english lesson you might want to buy some breaches and some boots if you want to continue going:) but if not just wear some leggings all girls have those and wear combat boots or tennis shoes! Where a sweatshirt because it will be cold! And thats all you need! If western wear jeans and a jacket! And tennis shoes unless you have cowgirl boots! You will be learning basics to walk and trot and if that goes really well maybe even to canter or lope. But you most likely won't get there! You will learn to brush the horse and to mount the horse and dismount. You will do figure eights and different patterns and you will learn to stear your horse in different directions :) then you will groom your horse and you will be done! You will also learn to tack your horse! I hope this helps good luck you will do great just enjoy it and if you like it definitely pursue it! I love riding my horses! Its so nice and peaceful you can even lease a horse if you get serious about it:)

Boots with a small heel, long pants like jeans or cords, proper underwear (no thong that is going to show or end up making you raw, and wear a bra). DO NOT WEAR SNEAKERS AS SOMEONE ELSE MENTIONED. That is a huge no-no.
It's probably colder up in Michigan. Wear a few layers, riding will get you warm but you'll be sweaty afterwards and maybe want a jacket.

don't forget a helmet. Not just a normal bike helmet but an approved riding helmet. If you can't find one then the barn might have one to use, but it's always easier on them if you have your own. Use breaches or leggings for English along with boots with a heel. For western the same but jeans instead of leggings. Good luck!

The first lesson I ever had I learned how to put on the horses saddle and reins. You will want to wear pants and boots in case they decide to put you on a horse rite away.
