opinions on Genipher?
I saw Jennifer spelled Genipher the other day and it caught my eye. Not 100% sure how I feel about it yet. What do you think??

Jennifer is a fine name, but that just looks ugly and reminds me of "Gopher". Everyone is going to be misspelling it, that poor child is going to have so many problems growing up.... and when I look at it, I say "Jenny-fer" really quick, instead of my usual "Jen-uh-fur" for some reason.

Honestly, that's just awful. If I saw someone with that name spelled that way I would feel bad for them and assume their parents were uneducated and couldn't spell or just really cruel rather than being unique. I would keep it to either Jennifer or Jenifer; I knew a woman who's mom spelled her name Jennafer and she legally changed it to Jennifer when she turned 18 because she hated it and was mad that her parents were stupid enough to spelled it Jennafer (her exact words).
Plus the G with the "-pher" at the end makes me think of Gopher.

I think you're just asking for trouble. If you must use Jennifer, which I think is outdated but not horrible, go with the correct spelling.

When it comes to baby names, alternative spellings are my guilty pleasure. I will come up with the most obscure ways to spell the simplest ones. However, what people have been saying about your child have to spell her name over and over are right. Even having Kaylyn is difficult in that area. It's gotten to the point where I don't even wait to be asked to spell it.
I think you should do what you think is best, though.
Good luck!

The name is great, but the spelling doesn't look good at all. I LOVE Jennifer. I know a Gennifer, and she hates how her name is spelled.
God bless!ð

Yuck. Any child with that name will spend her entire life correcting people and spelling her name for them, and will also have a decreased chance of getting into school and finding a job later in life.

I really don't like it. It looks Ugly sorry.
Jennifer looks much nicer and more "correct".
Genipher looks "awkward", Gen could be pronounced Jean as in Jean - ee - furr.
