How to prepare for an audition?
I've done this about four or five times, but I've only auditioned for one play. The rest were musical auditions.
Anyway let's cut to the chase. I'm a Sophomore and my high school is doing "Antigone" for our spring production. I know that the title role might go to a junior or senior, but I really want to go for it.
I know that Antigone is stubborn and rebellious as well as a little bit rude, but what else is she like? If I can embody her personality, I figure that I'd have a better chance of at least getting called back. How else can I prepare for the audition?
I really want this part. She's a confident person who stands for what she believes in and I want to become more like her. If I played her, I might be able to use those skills in real life.

If you can get access to the script, then:
-Memorize the lines
-After learning the lines well, try to figure out what the purpose of the scene/play is, what the theme is. This will help you communicate the themes and purpose of the play better.
-Use the stage directions and emphasized words to figure out exactly what the character's reaction is. Then, work on perfecting this reaction yourself.
And then if you don't have the script, be prepared to ACT, not read. What I mean by this:
-Don't read your lines as you speak, because this will make you less in the moment.
-Whoever is reading back to you, when they say their line, read your next line. This way you're a bit more ready for your reaction.
-Keep your thumb as a place-mark on the page so that you don't lose track of your lines.
Also you might want to consider doing a tongue-twister or two before you go to the audition, so that you won't be tongue-tied: http://www.write-out-loud.com/dictionexercises.htm...
Before going into the audition, make sure you are loose, relaxed, and confident.
-Stretch your face muscles, warm up your voice (not with singing exercises, just like blow out your lips and make a noise lol), stretch anything that's tight, shake yourself out.
-Be CONFIDENT. This is important for auditions. If you're confident, they'll sense it and you'll do better.
Good luck!

4 steps
calm down. You are going to do fine
reserch. Reserch about your charachter
project. Make sure your voice can be heard from the back of the room
gestures. Use your body to say your lines.
don't worry you are going to do perfect if you follow those steps
btw use a bit more make up than usual if their are bright lights so your face can be seen
