How do you learn from past wrongs committed against you?
I'm a person who's trying to learn from my past. However, I always felt confused by someone saying "What did you learn from..." and they mention something that happened to me. For example, a parent abusing you when you were a child (This is just an example to get the point across; I'm not saying it happened to me). The child was innocent of the affair and did nothing wrong to warrant the abuse. However, is there something they could learn from the experience?
I guess due to my mentality in life, I'm very opposed to such an idea that people who have wronged-victims, for a better word-should learn anything from something that happened to them. It's a different thing if you do something wrong and need to correct yourself, but I'm having a hard time getting the other side understood.
Could anyone shed some light to me about this, please?
