What is the earliest version of MS Word supported by Windows 7 operating system?

I just got an HP laptop with Windows 7 operating system. I am used to using Word 5.1 on the Mac System 8. So what would be the earliest version I could get without too many changes in bells and whistles?

    I tried to install my Word 2000 onto my Windows 8.1 64-bit system and it would not install. I currently use Word 2003, the last version with native usable menus, not stupid ribbons.
