What would you think if you received an empty ring box from a same sex friend?

Not just any empty ring box but a gold one from Milan especially if she knows you're still dating an unemployed bf and will be losing your job after Christmas.

Would you take this gift from princess Jones (because she tries to keep up with the Joneses) as pretentious and presumptuous?

Update:

I see it as pretentious and presumptuous because I had told her earlier I was losing my job so what in the world would I need a ring/lewellery box especially from Milan for?

    I'd think it was a mistake, unless the box is so special and ornamental that it's a gift in itself, in which case I'd just thank her for the beautiful box. I don't understand why it might be seen as "pretentious and presumptuous" - you'd better explain further.

    I will not accept the empty Gold box which conveys a true message to me and I will try to change my self according to princess advise.
