Doing sports for the first time as a sophmore? Help!!!!!!?
So I am a freshman right now, but I want to start doing sports. I want to start doing sports next year to loose weight and be healthier. Even if I know nothing about the sport and am kind of out of shape, can I join? Or would I just make a fool out of myself? Like I want to do swimming, lacrosse, and cross country, but I can only run 2 miles, can swim but cant do all of the strokes or whatever, and have never played lacrosse. I am naturally athletic and am naturally good at most sports, but do newbies not happen often? I really don't want to embarrass myself if I don't know anything. Help?

Don't worry, even if you don't make the varsity team, your teammates will be supportive of you. If you're doing this to lose weight, don't think that running 50 miles a day will help you lose fat! Sprints or High Intensity Interval Training will make you lose weight. Be sure to invest in some really good running shoes like the Nike free flyknit. Wait for it to go on sale though, it costs $160 but I got it on sale for $75. You should start training now though, you shouldn't put off your health until New Years! Go join a gym with an indoor track, pool, etc. don't go for a cheap commercial gym that's "$39.99" a month but instead a reputable gym, largest you can find that has the most facilities. Be sure to take lots of supplements, GNC MegaMen has everything a human needs to survive! If you get burning sensations in your shins, that's shin splints, read up on sports medicine and learn about common injuries like shin splints so that you can both prevent them and know what to do with them.
Source(s): Freshman in your situation, training for track team, improved 1600m time by 3:30 since beginning of year. Good luck... Seriously, the village witch doctor gave me a good luck potion. I think it was steroids :( http://www.simplyshredded.com/fit-with-hiit-science-is-dropping-the-hammer-on-endless-bouts-of-steady-state-cardio.html
