Gluten free foods as an alternative to foods with gluten? Are they healthier? Does anyone know?
Ok I know what gluten is and I know how some people cant digest gluten. I was just wondering is it a more healthy for you to eat gluten free foods?! The gluten free foods can be more expensive but I really want to eat healthier this year and ive tasted them and they dont taste too bad. Are there any other advantages to eating them? I dont think I have an intolerance to it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! :)))

No healthier just because there's no gluten. Vast majority of people have no problem with digesting gluten. Thing is gluten usually means bread or flour, so gluten goes hand in hand with high calorie foods, often fatty foods like pizza and cake. It's common to filling, sluggish fat pants foods.
So the benefit of no gluten for most people just means less bread, more fruits and veggies, it's a diet without being called that. Substituting the gluten for other foods still covered in cheese and frosting isn't gonna help someone without Celiac disease. So don't avoid gluten per say, avoid tons of bread and pasta and pastry. A gluten free cupcake is no healthier, if you're gonna treat yourself just eat the good tasting cupcake.

No, it is not more healthy for you to eat gluten free foods...Trust me it won't make you healthier. I have been allergic to gluten for 15 years and have replaced it all with gluten free foods. If anything I gained 20 pounds. Don't bother. No advantages to eating them unless you have to gain weight.

Gluten is only a problem for those who have a sensitivity to it. Other people have absolutely no ill effects from eating gluten containing products. Grains have been one of the most important staples of human diet for many thousands of years.
