Love and forgiveness?

The other day, I was watching Gerry Adams in that british documentary about the Bible and Jesus, when he talks about the sermon on the mount and the need to love our neighbour and forgive our ennemies.

Yet if I love my neighbour in a homosexual way, god will make sure I burn eternally in hell. Isn't it mean for someone who sends his son on earth to preach forgiveness?

PS: This is a thought experiment, I am a very heterosexual grand-father who admires Jesus, the man, for his teaching of love and peace.

When I was a Christian, I realized that Jesus' teachings had been censored and Paul's teachings were the focus of the religion. This caused me to wonder what Jesus said and why it was so bad that it needed to be censored. I began with the Sermon on the Mount.

The first beatitude confused me greatly. It made no sense. I contemplated it for three days before I finally understood why it made no sense. The passage reads: "Blessed are the poor in spirit; theirs is the kingdom of heaven" but Christianity teaches "Damned are the poor in spirit; theirs is the kingdom of Satan/Hell"

Now I am a little embarrassed to admit that the words were incomprehensible to me, but that's how I understand that Christians live in a delusion. I also admire the man Jesus who introduced me to my god-like power and the perfection of our being.

This was the same dude that sanctioned the blowing up of pregnant women with nail bombs.

I don't know what to say...If God does send you to hell for liking a man I won't like God anymore. He's love and what you're doing shouldn't be wrong. You just love someone of the same sex, big deal?

Is your brain so small that you can not comprehend any kind of love that isn't of a sexual nature.. I'm an agnostic, so I don't agree with all this love and forgiveness stuff.. But even I know that love thy neighbour doesn't mean love in a sexual way.

That is not love. Love thy neighbour means not to have xxx with him. And being homosexual is not sin unless u do the act.

Btw jesus was a prophet not the son

When Jesus was talking about loving your neighbor he was referring to loving your neighbor in an agape way, the way that God loves us.

Agape love is a perfect selfless love that is called into action

You are taking the word "love" in one of its various translations. To love someone it is not necessary to have sex with them. You do not have sex with your family, supposedly, yet you love them. Correct?

No, this just means the Kingdom of God is closed.

    1 Corinthians 6:9-10

9 Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, 10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.
