I need to get in Marine Corps level shape soon?
I'm applying for the Marine Corps Platoon Leadership Class. A perfect score on the fitness test is 18 min 3 mile run, 100 crunches in 2 min, and 20 pullups. Right now I can do 48 crunches and 8 pullups, but haven't ran 3 miles in a couple of years and ran a 7:30 mile last week.
The initial exam is in 2 weeks, but then they'll take a 2nd exam a few months later. What can I do in 2 weeks to boost my score as much as a possible, and any tips on a long term regimen to get me in top shape? My college has a nice gym with a variety of equipment and a small indoor running track so whether the regimen is low tech or high tech shouldn't be a problem.
Any help appreciated, thanks
Fred - this isn't boot camp, it's an officer program. They turn down people if they're not up to par and it's pretty competitive. Yes they'll remake me if I make it, but I have to get there first

Dude… no matter how hard you prepare yourself you will struggle through boot camp. Especially the MC boot camp. If you want to see what you'll be doing watch the 1st half of a movie called "Full Metal Jacket". That is an accurate portrayal of MC basic. Or at least it was back in the day. But regardless.. they will remake you the way they want you. If you don't get it quickly enough.. they'll keep you longer. So however long the recruiter told you you'd be in boot camp… expect to be there at least another couple of weeks longer. It's rare that anyone gets out of boot camp "on time". Good luck.

I would recommend starting a workout program that builds upper body strength, core, and cardiovascular endurance.
