What if Jesus already came right on time when He said He would?...........within a generation?

"But whenever they persecute you in one city, flee to the next; for truly I say to you, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel until the Son of Man comes." - Matt 10:23

"Verily I say to you, There are some standing here, who shall not taste death, till they shall see the Son of man coming in His kingdom." - Matt 16:28

"When you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door. Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place." - Matt 24:33-34

"Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced (crucified) Him." - Revelation 1:7

"Jesus said to him, 'If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow Me!'" - John 21:22

"The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants--things which must shortly take place." - Revelation 1:1

"Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near." - Revelation 1:3

"Behold, I am coming soon!..." - Revelation 22:12

"He which testifies to these things says, Surely I come quickly. Amen..." - Revelation 22:20

"When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city. For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written." - Luke 21:20-22

Read about the Roman Jewish War, the destruction of Jerusalem, end of the Jewish Old Covenant age, Neronic persecutions (Tribulation) to learn more. And don't look to the sky for Jesus, when He's closer to you than the fingers you used to type that question. He's been reigning here in the New Jerusalem for almost 2 millennia...

"Jesus answered, 'My kingdom is not of this world...'" - John 18:36

"He answered them and said, 'The kingdom of God does not come with observation. Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you." - Luke 17:20-21

"While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen, for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal."- II Corinthians 4:18

Jesus is a pretty popular name in Mexico. I'm sure some kid will be born and will be named Jesus in 2014. Probably more than one kid. If you're talking about the myth of the Jesus in the bible coming back, sorry but that's just a myth. That Jesus never actually existed. He was a character created by Rome to try to replace messianic Judaism with a less violent religion.

And if I was (still) a christian I would be praying that he would not come, until every single person on Earth had been "saved". Because I wouldn't want anyone to go to "hell" who didn't have to. But hey if you want him to come next year that's cool too.......

@daicactus OH yeah, Jesus getting' funky in 2014!

I guess is Jesus did come we'd all be in a fine panic, to say the least. Maybe not everyone but imagine what would be all over the news- even Twitter would budge! (#JesusAndMe, #GodLovesY'alls, #WhyAmIOnThisPlanet)

Yes Christians are anxiously waiting for His return. It could happen any moment. He just said Be Ye Ready!

Revelation 22:20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

  • very unlikely..... many things need to happen first... and some are not even close to happening yet... one is that The Nation of Israel must reclaim ALL of The Land granted to them by God.... and the current political state of Israel is actually giving it away.... and then The Nation of Israel need to rebuild The Temple.... and re-institute all of the Temple and Priestly laws.... none of which could be reasonably be expected to occur in the next 12 months........... and then.... Only when God tells His Son That is is time will Christ call The True Church from The Earth..... and then it will be 7 more years after that before Christ actually returns to Earth....

Jesus words: If the householder had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have kept awake and not allowed his house to be broken into. On this account you too prove yourselves ready, because at an hour that you do not think to be it, the Son of man is coming.—Matthew 24:43, 44.

What Jesus said sounds very similar to what Micah, Zephaniah, and Habakkuk wrote. Yet, Jesus was making the point, not for people of ancient times, but for his followers, for us. Many devoted Christians have truly applied Jesus counsel; they have proved themselves ready, remaining in expectation. The apostle John was a good example of this. He was one of the four on the Mount of Olives who asked Jesus about the conclusion of the system of things. (Matthew 24:3; Mark 13:3, 4) That was in the year 33 C.E., but John could not look at any time line to determine just how soon things would happen. Now, in your mind, move ahead some 60 years in time. John had aged, but he did not become weary and lose his sense of expectation. On the contrary, when he heard Jesus say: Yes; I am coming quickly, John responded: Amen! Come, Lord Jesus. John did not regret how he had spent his years. He was convinced that when God executes judgment, He would also reward each one according to his works. (Revelation 22:12, 20) Whenever that judgment would be, John wanted to be ready, as the Lord Jesus had advised.

(2 Timothy 3:1-7) But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here.  For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal,  having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness,  betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God,  having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away.  For from these arise those men who slyly work their way into households and lead as their captives weak women loaded down with sins, led by various desires,  always learning and yet never able to come to an accurate knowledge of truth.

The unsaved people of this earth would have to be given an account of, by the Christians, who did not repent and make sure, it was not for lack of evangelizing as part of the Christian's duty and commandment by Jesus last time he left the earth, I put myself in this category too. Peace

Yeah, you guys have been claiming he was coming back "any day now" for more than 1900 years.

    And you've always been wrong.

Time to give up that little fantasy, don't you think?

I feel sorry for Him. Christian religions will either kill Him or likely ignore Him while non-Christian religions will simply continue about their anointed and true business.
