Unknown. Depends on how much work the accompanist has, how interested he or she is in the work, and possibly even if the doctorate is in piano performance.

    ... and not botany.

(My estimate would be between $70 and $120/hr)

Why a doctoral degree? In your area, I am certain that there are many fine pianists with many years of professional experience, who have MM degrees, Artist Diplomas, etc. And as I. Jones said - depends on what you want them to do. Is this literature you know well, and they are playing standard repertoire? Are these the dreaded *reductions* from orchestra scores - known to all of us an *knuckle-busters* - strenuous on the hands, and seldom rewarding to play? Do you need rehearsal time that involves diction, language, or any other coaching? Those of us with extensive professional accompanying experience have always said that we should- and often do - end up charging a non-diva PRO less then we charge a student or amateur - because the latter need *hand-holding*, musically, and are often unreasonable: "Could you take this down a third - by sight - and then make this cut - then stick in this other part I heard on the CD?" (There is printed sheet that has made the round of many accompanists - it is a FINE SHEET of things we wish we could charge soloists for, when they pull all kinds of stunts on it - and just bat their eyelashes!) We do no know who you are or at what level - so asking us to give you a price is pretty hard to do. If you are asking HERE, then we can assume that you are new at this; ask other singer and instrumentalist who they use, and how much they pay - and take it form there. We are in NY, and know what people get here - but location, expertise, and time on the clock mean everything. EVERYTHING should be in writing ahead of time, too - seriously.
