ATLA - Zuko, when he was an enemy, because he wasn't like most villains. He wasn't trying to get the avatar to make him look amazing. He wanted the avatar to earn his father's love again. He's also really smart and pretty stinking strong.
LOK - Amon because, again, he had a really reasonable reason to be mad. Benders can be really mean. Amon was also really..terrifying. I mean, being able to take someone's bending away. That's scary.
