How do I turn a software DVD into a file that can be executed without a DVD drive on another computer?

So I've got a piece of software that came on a DVD. I want to run and install that program on a tablet computer, but I don't have an external DVD drive to install it.

Can I use my desktop computer to turn the DVD software into an executable file? I know I've seen this with other software. One piece I have on DVD and on a file, and if you double click the file, it's just as if you opened up the DVD software. It's identical, and it installs identical.

So is there a way to turn a software DVD into an executable file that will allow me to install the program?

Thanks for any help you can offer. I know, I know - External DVD drives are cheap. I ought to just go buy one, but I really don't think I need it.

Update:

Kiwi - I'd have no problem doing what you suggested if I knew how to turn the DVD into a file. That's the point of my question. I want to know how to create a file.

Me - The one piece of software that I also had a file of didn't matter what computer I used it on. I'm talking about PCs, not Mac, if that's what you mean. The destination this time is a Surface Pro if that matters.

mrwonderful - Yes, I'd like to just put a file onto a stick and then put it on my computer that has no DVD drive. It's getting the DVD turned into a file that's the issue. Does anyone know how I do that?

I do appreciate the responses. Sorry I was unclear in my original question. Thanks for any additional help you might have.

    1) Rip the DVD image to your drive as an iso file

    2) Copy to external drive, copy from that to 2nd pc.

    3) On 2nd pc execute the iso.

It's been a while since I've done that, but I think I used free software called MagicDisc both for steps 1 and 3.

Note that to execute the iso you must first "mount" the virtual drive it will run on. MagicDisc creates a virtual drive. To run the file it virtually loads the disc and then the file executes. If you can't get it by playing around then I'm sure the help/readme explains the procedure.

Create an ISO image using software like MagicISO (http://www.magiciso.com/tutorials/miso-makeiso.htm...

Then, transfer that ISO image to your tablet.

In your tablet, install a program called Daemon Tools so you can mount the image. (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/downloads).

You caan share the file from one comp to the other over LAN. If you have a home network, you make a folder "shareable" and copy the file over.

It depends on what type of computer you are using. How weird that you didn't provide that info.
