Has anyone out there in Y! Answers land skied the Haute Route?
I'm looking for some first-hand (or reliable second-hand) accounts of skiing the Chamonix-Zermatt route. I particularly want to know the approximate amounts of time ascending, traversing, and descending the various sections.
I have a few resort-minded folks who I want to convince to go with me on this trip, possibly in a year or so, but need to get them thinking about buying Randonee equipment.
If I had some substantive times to give them about the various legs of the trip it might help sway them away from making further investments in gear they can't use on the trip.
Thanks in advance.

Remember it is a 7+ day trek. So if anyone is not sure whether or not they want to go on this little expedition or don't know what it is, they probably shouldn't go.
It would be like saying you like the outdoors and pulling someone in on a Mt. Everest climb. It isn't just something you jump into and go for it. It is about 180km / 111 miles going the "standard" route, which translates to 12 miles a day if you plan for 7 days, or if you can't handle 15 miles a day, will extend it out longer. Also it isn't on road, its over some crazy terrain so distance takes longer to cross.

Has some information about suggested routes. Can probably google each location to get an approximate elevation to see whether or not you are going up or down, but there is quite a bit of up hill.
