Has the amount of time a question stays in voting been significantly reduced?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=201401...

That question was asked and answered 3 hours ago. It was obviously SENT to voting (only way it can get there that fast) and the Best Answer was chosen within 3 HOURS of the answer being posted. So, has the amount of time for voting changed, has the voting PROCESS changed (as the base question itself indicates may be the case), or is this (another) glitch in the new process?

Update:

OK, experiment time. I usually choose BA myself, but will send this to voting (early), then just vote on it and see what happens. Sombra, if you don't win, sorry. You will get my vote, though.

I think that's a glitch, and it's not the first time, either.

When the new format was introduced on the US site (way back then), it was one of the noted 'bugs' talked about on the suggestion board. One of the more knowledgeable users there suggested that something in the new programming was reading a VOTE for Best Answer as if it were an asker's CHOICE for Best Answer.

I believe it may have had to do with the asker sending the question to vote early, rather than allowing the question to expire and go to voting automatically (at least, in the several examples which were discussed at the time).

hard to tell. Questions I have answered seem to be around forever, but with the unnecessary changes made on this site it is hard to track anything without going to the Canada site. Everything seems to take forever anymore. I have pretty much dropped out. No longer have any badges for answering, and no longer in the top ten of the two sub-sections where I used to answer a lot. Have pretty much stopped all the voting too, because of all the changes making it too time consuming.

I haven't noticed that at all, but if you are correct then that would be terrible lessening the timing for voting to be done that quickly.

It might be the first vote that is cast wins the BA and that would be unfair.

I hope it is just a glitch

I will pay m ore attention for the next few days so thanks for the 'heads-up'

    Hi Yahzman,

I' m back i think it was three days but has been coming up four days; however a caveat is i see extensions of 7 days when i took my usual cyber trip to Canada.

I hope this is accurate as it was something i saw but didn't really take note of it.

It looks so. One loses the opinions of other contributors, some of which are interesting. It may help if we delay choosing a best answer response till answers have really stopped coming in.

It depends upon the value of the question, i feel,
