Taking care of newborn kittens?
I found 3 kittens in a bag at the trash near my house, someone apparently threw them out. I took them home and had them cleaned. They still haven't opened their eyes. How do i take care of them until they are old enough to go to homes? Is there something else I should know besides keeping them warm and giving them milk? should i try to give them some other food as well? Is it the same with puppies? I'ce taken care of newborn puppies before but not kittens. Any help is welcome!
also taking them to the shelter is not an option because where i live the shelter is already full with dogs and doesn't take cats in.

I've taken care of 8 newborn kittens before:) although, they had a momma cat who raised them. Go to petco, petsmart, or some store like that. There you can buy formula, a bed, and cat blankets. It's important to keep them warm-but not too hot. Buy a fluffy, comfortable bed and a blanket to wrap them up in. Make sure you keep them indoors so no other animals can get them. Even if you put them somewhere where dogs, raccoons, ect. Can't get them, eagles, hawks, vultures, and crows can. It's best to keep them inside, warm, and away from predators. Make sure young children and any other indoor animals stay away from the kittens. Take them to a vet and have them checked out. I'm sure you'll do fine! Goodluck! I hope this helped!

Give them kitten food and water. You can make kitten milk or buy it. If you make it use an egg, a little bit of whole milk and a few pinches of sugar. This was recomended to me buy a vet. Mix it together and put it in a bottle and feed the kittens. If you buy it look for replacement formula for kittens. Since they were outside its a good idea to routinely check them for fleas. Dawn dish soap concentrated works great on cats and dogs 6 wks or older for the fleas.

1. Use a heating pad set on low, in one end of the box. Keep one end unheated. Put a towel over the pad. Kittens under 3 weeks cannot regulate their body temperature.
2. Feed kitten formula or use recipes for "kitten glop" found online. Feed as they need or seem hungry. Continue feeding formula for at least 5 weeks. After that, use formula from the bottle, as well as a couple small meals of canned food mixed with water. Be sure to cut a little slit in the end of the nipple so the formula flows properly. Don't drown them, but be sure they get enough. Keep the kittens in a "paws-down" position so they don't inhale the formula. Do not cradle them. They can also be wrapped in a little dish cloth to keep their claws confined, if they get too anxious.
3. Use a damp paper towel or wash cloth to wipe their bottoms in order to get them to urinate for up to three weeks. This is very important and needs to be done at each feeding.
4. Check for fleas - look for "flea dirt" in the skin, which basically looks like a bit of dust or dirt under the fur. Use Dawn dish soap to bathe them, if they have fleas. Be sure to keep them warm. You can also use a flea comb on a daily basis to capture the fleas. Do not use chemicals or flea collars, which are dangerous for kittens.
5. Do not try to open the eyes. They will remain shut for up to about two weeks of age.
6. If the eyes have gunk on them, then gently wipe them with a damp cloth. In that case, they will likely need vet care and use of antibiotic eye drops, which would clear the infection quite quickly and safeguard the eyes.
7. If they have diarrhea, take them to the vet. This can be caused by parasites or sensitivity to the formula and vet care will take care of this. Kittens with diarrhea can suffer dehydration rather quickly. Do not feed cow's milk.

First of all because you found them you must call the local SPCA or animal shelter in your area and report finding them. They want to know about cases of abandonment. You can even take them to the shelter and ask if the staff will care for them (some shelters will not be able to do this if they are full).
If the kittens are newborn their survival chances are low. They need colostrum which is mother cat's first milk.
After that they need KMR which is expensive cat milk replacement, do not give cows milk.

Hello!!!
You're so nice to adopt 3 kittens that is found near your house. I prefer to read the following below to know how to raise kittens. Naturally, you raise kittens like puppies. The difference is that, they could/couldn't eat the same as dogs.
Prepare for Kitty's Arrival
Before you bring home your kitten, make sure you have a litter box, cat carrier, kitten food, food and water bowls, a collar and tags, and toys to entertain your new pet. Cat-proof your house before kitty arrives. Put away cleaners and pick up anything she could swallow.
Indoors or Outdoors?
Many vets suggest keeping cats indoors because indoor-only cats usually live longer, healthier lives. If you choose to keep your kitten indoors, make sure he has window perches and toys.
Do You Really Need Kitten Food?
Until they’re 1 year old, kittens need up to three times the calories as adult cats. So look for food made especially for kittens and feed your kitten the amount recommended on the label. Talk to your vet about using canned food, dry kibbles, or a mixture of both. Be sure to put the food somewhere the dog can't get to, as kitty food can upset a dog's stomach and add unwanted pounds.
Those are some guides from How To Take Care of A Kitten.
I'll give you some foods that aren't allowed for a kitten to eat.
Tuna- Why is it not allowed? It could cause malnutrition because it lacks nutrients for a kitten.
Onions, Garlic, Chives- Why is it not allowed? It could cause anemia. Anemia is a decrease in number of red blood cells.
Grapes and Raisins- Why is it not allowed? It could cause kidney failure to a cat/ kitten.
Caffeine- Why is it not allowed? It could cause fatality. It is NOT treatable.
Chocolate- Why is it not allowed? It has a toxic agent called theobromine which can cause death and chocolate poisoning.
Candy and Gum- Why is it not allowed? Candy, gum, toothpaste, baked goods, and some diet foods are sweetened with xylitol. Xylitol can cause an increase in the insulin circulating through your cat's body, which will cause the cat's blood sugar to drop. Xylitol can also lead to liver failure.
Fat Trimmings and Bones- Why is it not allowed? Both fat and bones may be dangerous for cats. Fat, both cooked and uncooked, can cause intestinal upset, with vomiting and diarrhea. And a cat can choke on a bone. Bones can also splinter and cause an obstruction or lacerations of your cat's digestive system.
Raw Eggs- Why is it not allowed? There are two problems with giving your cat raw eggs. The first is the possibility of food poisoning from bacteria like salmonella or E. coli. The second is that a protein in raw egg whites, called avidin, interferes with the absorption of the B vitamin biotin.
Raw Meat and Fish- Why is it not allowed? Raw meat and raw fish, like raw eggs, can contain bacteria that cause food poisoning. In addition, an enzyme in raw fish destroys thiamine, which is an essential B vitamin for your cat.
Liver- Why is it not allowed? Small amounts of liver are OK, but eating too much liver can cause vitamin A toxicity. This is a serious condition that can affect your cat's bones.
Yeast Dough- Why is it not allowed? Before it's baked, bread dough needs to rise. And, that's exactly what it would do in your cat's stomach if your cat ate it. As it swells inside, the dough can stretch the abdomen and cause severe pain.
I wish good health for you and your kittens!!
