Hello Tammy,

    The purpose of prayer is to talk to God. You ask for forgiveness, pray for the people you care for, ask for strength, ask for answers to your worries, say hello to your passed away cared for people, and whatever else you'd like to talk about. Usually, most people pray the same part of a prayer which stated in the Bible is the Lord's Prayer;

    Our Father in Heaven,

    hallowed be your name.

    Your kingdom come,

    your will be done,

on earth, as it is in Heaven,

Give us this day our daily bread,

    and forgive us our debts,

as we also have forgiven out debtors.

And lead us not into temptation,

    but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory,

    For ever and ever,

    Amen.

We also pray to look to God for it is one of the 10 commandments, and it shows that we are obedient to God. Praying also delivers us from evil. I love to pray because i feel safe talking to God and i have great faith through Him.

Try reading the bible, it helps and will give you a whole new perspective!

    From my heart,

    Noelle <3

It's a form of consolation to weak minded people. It never works but could give scared and weak people a reason to think that they are doing something to fix a problem.

Although best course would be to focus on finding a solution if one is possible and move on when not possible.

13 Is anyone among you afflicted (ill-treated, suffering evil)? He should pray. Is anyone glad at heart? He should sing praise [to God].

14 Is anyone among you sick? He should call in the church elders (the spiritual guides). And they should pray over him, anointing him with oil in the Lord’s name.

15 And the prayer [that is] of faith will save him who is sick, and the Lord will restore him; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

16 Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].

17 Elijah was a human being with a nature such as we have [with feelings, affections, and a constitution like ours]; and he prayed earnestly for it not to rain, and no rain fell on the earth for three years and six months.

18 And [then] he prayed again and the heavens supplied rain and the land produced its crops [as usual].

Prayer opens the door for God to work.

Those who pray seeking His involvement in their lives and hearts will always receive an answer. Sometimes its yes sometimes its wait sometimes its no. But whatever His answer - it is best for us.

It is to soothe the person doing it.

It makes you think you are doing something, without really doing anything.

It is basically talking to your hands.

Jesus promises everlasting live to all those who put the desires of the flesh secondary to Gods will. So for each outcome, for every situation you encounter in your life, you say, "Thy will not mine be done."

I desire to go with my Savior when I die? So as a child of God I put my life under his care; for he sees what I cannot see, and he hears what I cannot hear.

I know Jesus is real, and I know he Loves me and has chosen me to leavve this world to be where Jesus is, so I dont try to go out of my way to change my life but instead I wate for him to direct me.

God knows our inner thoughts, so I pray for strength to deal with the evil people in this world; that their behavior against me does not brake me that I give up my faith and thereby glorifying their power over my Fathers power.

Jesus told us to stay awake. That means dont let evilness overcome you, subdue you, and put you to sleep while they use your time in your flesh to feel alive, cause they are not subject to your judgment.

Prayer is primarily for our benefit as a way to align ourselves with God and with his purposes. We do not pray to simply ask God for things. And prayer is not twisting the arm of God in an effort to get stuff.

When we pray, we pray "in Jesus name," and that simply means we pray in accordance with his will.

You have a mind AND a will, so your godly life must feed both. That is why the Rosary is so popular, You pray while meditating on the great Christian events.

If I was a Christian I'm sure it would work similar to a placebo. Because if you pray for amputees to be healed, no one's going to do anything.
