Walking Dead: Why are Michonne's pets so docile?

Before she removes their arms and jaws, they're obviously trying to eat her. We've seen that walkers continue to try to eat people no matter how much damage they sustain(up to a brain strike).

So why are her pet walkers docilely following her like particularly well-behaved spaniels?

They talked about it before, when they can no longer bite or grab, they just kind of give up. It probably should take longer than was shown, but they needed to move the plot along.

No and this is a good question. I just watched Talking Dead from last night and it was mentioned that while the show has been focusing on the reality of the situation and trying to survive, here for the first time comes a character who has that already figured out. That's a cool insight but even without their clawing arms or bottom jaw, their supposed instinct, I would have thought, would still draw them to their human captor and more importantly, draw other ghouls to her. It's all hypothetical and a very much a fan made genre but I would have thought it would take some advanced brain re-wiring to get them to walk straight and not succumb to what the zombie lore is, the basic instinct to feed.

Hey this questions still up. So. When you cut off their jaws and their arms, it eliminates the desire to eat. Since they can't eat, it's easier for them to give up. Then obviously hide michonne from every other walker.
