    To answer your question......

I'd find a bare tree branch, and spray paint it the color of the shower. Then I'd buy an empty terra cota flower pot, paint it or cover it with scrapbook paper, and adhere the tree branch to the bottom (duct tape?) and then fill the flower pot with sand or pebbles. It doesn't have to hold forever, just a couple of hours.

Then I'd take a bunch of clip clothespins and either paint them or cover them with scrapbook paper so that the gift cards could be clipped to the tree branches.

    Hope that helps.

Well, you might get your wish that this will be a shower to remember, but maybe not in the way you meant it! There's no way you can do this without it being tacky. For weddings and showers, especially showers, there are still many people who prefer giving gifts, and when you turn a shower into an obvious fundraiser, that's really pretty awful. I know you're well intended, but this bride needs to be told that she pays for her own honeymoon, and it's rude of her to be so "gimme gimme" about it. Edit: You might not see this, but nobody is "bashing" your question. When you say you've had no experience with this, it's important that people make clear it's totally inappropriate. It's not possible to give you a "best" way to do this, because there is none, and you're in a very difficult position. Honestly, you need to refuse to do this for her.

I think this is probably similar to what Amy posted, but here are some directions for a DIY gift card tree:

Edit - It's so funny how Amy & I got thumbs down for actually answering the question!

Cut out a load of paper leaf shapes, even better if they're green or white and write on them with green pen?! Have people write messages on them, then find a big branch, and put into a plant pot and hold in place with pebbles. After the shower, punch holes in the leaves and hang them on the branch using twine.

I love the idea, ignore what everyone else says if it's what you want to do. I'm thinking of doing this as a guest book for my wedding as i'm getting married in a treehouse :-) xx

I seen them done for 50+ birthday party and 25 + anniversary.

Where people pin money on and sign a big card.

Not sure how that works for a shower, people bring gifts with cards.

What the heck is a gift card tree?

Any time I've been given a gift card it was tucked neatly in a greeting card in an envelope....

Don't do this. It's really tacky.

I don't think anyone here has it within him to do something so tasteless.
