How should I ask this girl to formal?

I would like to ask this girl to my group's formal that is held in Vegas. I don't really know her that well but we talked before and I know her best friend really well. I was thinking of doing a scavenger hunt that will lead her to me and a couple guys serenading and with me holding flowers and a sign that's says WILL YOU GO TO FORMAL WITH ME? But I'm open to other suggestions. What should I do?

    Hey Fireballkid, Marco here,

dude, there is a rule: You don't know her that well, no serenading, no "will you..." signs, no couple guys.

come on, what if she doesn't want to go out with you. Youll make her feel awfull.

Whats the timeframe? Do we have at least several days until you need to ask her? If you do I would suggest just talking to her. Do some recon and try to assess if she might like you. If she do, either ask her for a coffee and cake, or ask her to the formal if you need the answer soon.

Altenatively you can have the friend you mentioned try to set you up or use something like 2kuut.com.

I think that's really cute, but its too much especially if you don't know her all too well. It may come off a little creepy, and I don't know how comfortable she'll feel about it. It puts a lot of pressure on trying to make the whole experience great. Try to key it down a bit.

A sign might be a bit much

How about telling her that you would like to get to know her better and tell her that a great way to get to know her would be her being your date for the party.

Maybe a nice note on a cute card would be a good way to ask her.

Just ask her, no need to go overvboard.
