Am i saved or not?

OK, I'm a christian, and i have been having doubts about my salvation. In the past I have done some pretty bad things, things that i know God doesn't like, but i have been "saved"...maybe. You see i try to follow the commandments, and i see a difference, i used to break almost all of them, but like i said im doing a lot better. But i can't help but think that i'm never there. I (no joke) sometimes stay up all night going back and forth in my mind about this, and it consumes me. I love Jesus, i repent, i do everyday. And ever since i was "saved", I've always said, even on judgement day if Jesus sends me to Hell, I will understand and go down loving him, that is how much i love him. I'm not even worried about going to Heaven or Hell, i just want to do whats right for Jesus. I don't read my Bible often, maybe once every two months, I haven't been to church in almost a year, but i don't think you must do those things to be right with Jesus, yeah it helps, but the Bible wont save you, church wont save you, Jesus is the only one who can. So i ask, am i good, or am i missing something. There is always a part of me saying "you're fine", then another part saying "you're not". Am i right with Jesus in my heart, or do i still need to improve.... By the way, anybody who says he isn't real, i respect you're opinion, but please don't waste your time writing it down!

Update:

I pray everyday at least twice, and i try not to sin, and when i do, i repent.

Update 2:

I keep the commandments now, but i didnt in the past. but i still occasionaly sin.

It sounds like you are saved to me but there are a few things that you could to make your life a little less fearful.

1.) Find a good church and attend regularly. You may not need to go to church to be a Christian but it sure helps.

2.) Read your Bible. Just a chapter a day really gives you strength and makes you wise. Just do it.

You have made a fundamental error in regards to salvation.

You stated: "but the Bible wont save you, church wont save you, Jesus is the only one who can."

Then why do you strive to keep "old" covenant law? The law could only condemn. There were no "brownie points" for just trying. It was a "covenant' law where to break any one point was to be guilty of the entirety. It is what Paul called the ministration of death and condemnation. You cannot serve and follow Christ and the law. You cannot mix life and death.

Salvation is given to those who believe the gospel; salvation through faith only in Christ, and not faith in Christ plus keeping the commandments, which you do not keep anyway.

Please read this excerpt of a speech. Then you will know better where you stand.

So, you want to go to God's Kingdom? You want to go to heaven, you do not want to go to hell? Then love God with all faculties that you possess totally and perfectly. So bottom line, you want to be in God's Kingdom? Love Him perfectly, it is about love, it is not really about Law. Cause if you love Him, you will keep His Law, is not that true?

When Luther pinned his 95 Thesis on the door of the church at Wittenberg, he had 95 declarations to make. Declaration number four called for self-hate. Nobody comes into God's Kingdom that does not hate himself. And the word "let him deny himself," the word here, the Greek term means to refuse to associate with. It is to disdain yourself. It is to refuse to associate any longer with the person you are.

Salvation is not about self-fulfillment, it is about self-denial. It is not about self-love, it is about self-hate. It is not about self-esteem, it is about self-disdain, disappointment. It is the rejection of who you are. It is hating yourself and loving God. And so the sinner is in an impossible situation because of his fallenness pride dominates his life, on his own he can not hate himself, and because he loves himself he cannot love God perfectly. But that is how you get into the Kingdom.

The Bible makes it clear that no matter what people’s “felt needs” may be, their real need is for forgiveness and salvation from sin, so as to escape eternal hell and enter the bliss of heaven. A fulfilled life, a happy marriage, a loving friendship, a successful career—those “needs” pale in comparison with the eternal issue facing every human being. It does not make any sense, then, for pastors to focus all of their energies on temporal surface attitudes while leaving the most profound eternal needs unaddressed. Besides, a true understanding of eternal life changes how you react to the passing troubles of this life.

The Bible also makes it clear that genuine belief includes more than just mental assent (cf. James 2:19). Biblical faith is more than just a profession of faith; it is a change of allegiance—from the mastery of sin to the lordship of Christ. It certainly would be convenient for me to preach a gospel that says, “If you’ve ever made a profession of faith in Jesus, then you’re saved, even if there’s nothing in your life to validate that claim.” But I can’t do that, because that’s not the true gospel. The true gospel repeatedly commands unbelievers to repent (Matthew 4:17; 11:20–21; Mark 6:12; Luke 5:32; 13:3, 5; 15:7, 10; 24:47; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 11:18; 17:30; 20:21; 2 Corinthians 7:9–10; 2 Timothy 2:25) and declares, “If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth” (1 John 1:6). It urges you to “test” yourself “to see if you are in the faith” (2 Corinthians 13:5), and reminds you that believers will be known “by their fruits” (Matthew 7:16-18; cf. Luke 6:43–44). So I preach the Bible because I want to make sure I’m preaching the true gospel, not a gospel of my own imagination. (John MacArthur, www.gty.org)

You are saved. You need to have a relationship with Jesus according to His word. You have been quenching the spirit through lack of reading Gods word which purefies us,bringing us to close to God.Jesus also talked about gathering together for His name that He would be in the mist.Look for a bible based church that base their teachings on scripture i.e cornerstone, calvary chapel.

1 Thessalonians 5:19 King James Bible

    Quench not the Spirit.

    Matthew 18:20 King James Bible

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

    Hebrews 10::25

Not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Just as your body needs food and water, your soul needs spiritual food i.e the word of God.

    Peace and grace

Read Acts. Get a pencil and record what people do and are told to do when they respond to the Gospel. Then do that and you will be saved. Then continue to obey God as best you can. Go to church as commanded, study the Word, and advance the cause of good.

That is for you to declare. God has already made His declaration on the matter. The invitation of Christ stands open, saying "Come unto Me....". Now it is for you to declare that you have come, believed the promise of God and are therefore saved.

We accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

1 John 1:8-10 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (10) If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

1 John 2:4 Whoever says "I know him" but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him,

1 John 2:9-11 Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness. (10) Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling. (11) But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

1 John 2:23 No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also.

1 John 3:4 Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.

1 John 3:8-10 Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. (9) No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God. (10) By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.

1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death.

1 John 4:15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.

1 John 4:17 By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world.

Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

John 3:16-18 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (17) For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. (18) Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

Romans 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
