Rachel Carson who wrote "Silent Spring" as we became aware that the American Bald Eagle was becoming endangered. The two became the spring board of the American environmental movement.
Judge Bolt who established Pacific Coast salmon fishing criteria and protections. In doing so, confirmed the Endangered Species Act and, was the first to consider entire habitat considerations.
Francis Lappe who wrote "Diet for a Small Planet", a bible for what became the organic and vegetarian movement of the 1960's through 1980's.
