Why does no religion stands even close to Buddhism in its approach towards truth?
Even atheists admire Buddhism.

I have been in many Buddhist temples, especially in Vietnam. A common theme is Idol Worship, Hideous looking demonic statues with tongues hanging out, goddesses with multiple arms and breasts.
And people praying for STUFF. Like money, luck, health, wealth, love etc.
That is correct. Nothing comes close to Buddhism.

Buddhism is not close at all, and "the truth" is not always what you think it is.

Because buddhism is more often willing to admit how wrong it is, one day it will admit it was entirely wrong.

‘Prayer’ to ‘Buddha and All Other gods’ "

Dear friends, the man referred to as the Buddha was not a god, did not claim to either be a god or to be the agent of some god, and in general his teachings (the Dhamma) do not include appeals to some god. The Buddha was just a philosopher who lived and died. The Buddha historically was a reactionary to Brahmanism, the dominant religion of his time and place.

The so-called Dalai Lama, on the other hand, is the former dictator of Tibet, head of its former state religion, a wildly delusional and superstitious man who believes in many gods. The state religion of Tibet was enforced on a population of serfs in a feudal system which he headed. The Dalai Lama’s concept of Buddhism does not include the Dhamma.

The Dalai Lama insists on being referred to as His Holiness, but that would be contrary to the Dhamma, and contrary to the Dalai Lama’s equally unbelievable claim that he is “just a simple Buddhist monk.” Given his wealth and life history of the same, that is an impossible claim. The Dalai Lama does not represent Buddhists in this world; he represents only his own political and economic allies. The Dhamma is not based on appeal to or worship of some god; it is more in the opposite direction, in fact.

One should be able to discern that there is no religion that represents the Dhamma.
The Dhamma is a straightforward philosophy of mind that deals with the nature of perception, and how to overcome unnecessary self-imposed suffering.
It does not deal with the nature of reality, only with the nature of sentient experience.

The propaganda stunt noted above was designed by a political party (Democrats in this case) as an appeal to the religious sentiments of a particular demographic that has the potential to deliver huge numbers of votes in return for favoritism. The Buddha is the predominant religious icon in much of Asia.
The propaganda in progress is not much different than the appeal by the same organization, below, published by the L.A. Times (which is to the Democratic Party what Fox News Network is to the Republican Party). The appeals to paranoid ethnocentrism, below, are obvious:

The rewards of political loyalty per ethnicity are not lost on a member of the demographic target of the propaganda campaign in question:

I am sure that at least some readers are aware of the long history of religious warfare between Muslims, Christians, and Jews, and sectarian violence within Islam and within Christianity. (If not, you are undereducated in history.) It is not much different in the history of religions that have taken on a Buddha icon and a "Buddhism" label over historical time (even though their respective dogmas typically have no relation to the Dhamma). I assume you mean, aside from Christianity which is the truth, Buddhism is the next closest.
I don't know.
