Since the obsessive taking and posting of selfies has now been declared a mental disorder,?

where do you see the potential cure coming from? http://adobochronicles.com/2014/03/31/american-psy...

That would depend on whether the behaviour is related to other disorders...

Personally I reckon (i'm not medically qualified) much of the obsession with 'selfies' is more to do with bad parenting, might be the kids way of getting attention. You could bring the obsession under control (manage it) with therapy...in extreme cases where it might be caused by or linked with other underlying conditions I reckon that they might treat it with medication...common sense suggest that most cases would be approached without medication and tackled like other obsessive behaviour and addictions for example gambling etc.

Joke site or not, I for one definitely see an obsession with "selfies" to indicate some kind of personality disorder. Taking the odd picture of yourself? Sure. Doing it time and time again and uploading every single one of them to a site with the express aim of having people look at them and make inane comments? Definitely a bit soft in the head.

You should have read the About information regarding this site. "THE ADOBO CHRONICLES is your source of up-to-date, unbelievable news. Everything you read on this site is based on fact, except for the lies."

The entire story is "creative" writing and therefore false.

All adolescents are obsessive about how they present themselves. It has been said, again, creatively, that adolescence is the only time in life when it's normal to be insane. But you're supposed to outgrow it. In any event, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual defines Narcissistic Personality Disorder partially as a need for admiration and having a grandiose sense of self-importance starting in early adulthood.

Look at the date the article was posted.

    A day before April 1

    Chronic selfititis LOL;)

I guess it's only a matter of time that someone will come up with a selfie addiction clinic with some kind of aversion therapy.

If asked I'm copy off a 'selfie' I'd did with a mutli-shot Polaroid exposure from 1969, but only if asked.

DSLR photography doesn't need to be over-complicated. This online photography course has been developed for beginners - intermediate levels and will teach you how to make the best use of your DSLR camera. https://tr.im/kCDpr

Learning how to confidently use your DSLR will help you get full value out of this awesome camera you have already paid for!

This course has been developed after seeing many potential photographers give up far too soon, wasting good money they have spent on the purchase of their DSLR camera.

@ jeannie.... I thought she already was.

As for the selfie idiocy that is now a part of society, ... what amazes me is how in so many of them, the morons make a great effort to make themselves look stupid. Seems like some kind of huge contradiction to me, ... to be so enamored with yourself to want to always be taking photos of yourself, and yet you intentionally make an effort to look like an idiot.

... but I suppose the "selphie" is only a small, and worthless, part of the lunacy of today's world that I don't understand.
