Hot topic lately: Can one "Pray Away the Gay"?

Can we pray away other sins? We can, sure, but ultimately, the sinner makes the decision to be or not to be.

It doesn't matter if it's in your DNA or not....it's corrupt. We are all corrupt, but are worthy of redemption through Christ.

As a bisexual Christian I know that the vast majority of Christian Gays that I am aware of claim that there is no Gay who could pray the Gay away. I know this to be true for myself.

So then we have a dilemma, the Christians who expect God to supplant Gayness with Straightness are not getting their way. Could it be that the typical fundie Christian doesn't really know what God is doing with sin? Could it be that God's patience with Gays who trust him is greater than the expectations of fundies who demand that God does supplant Gayness with straightness?

I don't think Fundies have a firm grip on what God's grace and mercy are about.

11 And yet that is what some of you WERE. But you have been washed clean; you have been sanctified; you have been declared righteous in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and with the spirit of our God.

THat's the Good News of trust in Christ and not doubt that the perfectionists preach. See how some people use it to say that they are "good" enough to be saved. They think that everyone else is immoral, thinking that they themselves are moral enough. Like the person who answered you above my answer. JEsus had choice words for the Pharisees, who are alive and well in the judgmental churches.

God's word makes it clear that people can change immoral behaviors

(1 Corinthians 6:9-11) Or do you not know that unrighteous people will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Do not be misled. Those who are sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, men who submit to homosexual acts, men who practice homosexuality, 10 thieves, greedy people, drunkards, revilers, and extortioners will not inherit God’s Kingdom. 11 And yet that is what some of you WERE. But you have been washed clean; you have been sanctified; you have been declared righteous in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and with the spirit of our God.

Romans 3:23-24 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the (redemption) that came by Christ Jesus.

the gay issue is a SIN issue.

so forget the DNA argument if you want to deal w this issue and be healed.

HOW does he make a person gay ?

he brainwash ... means mind, thoughts, emotions.

unless you ACCEPT that these feelings and thoughts are NOT yours,

you will flow freely and be brainwashed into abnormality. You become gay.

if you're gay and you want out ... SIMPLE ...

confess to God that these feelings are NOT YOURS and you've sinned by it.

repent and tell God that you stand against all gay thoughts and emotions ...

tell God that you resist them and ASK God for His help in resisting.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

God is TEACHING us how to deal w satan ... RESIST the animal.

you KNOW, ACKNOWLEDGE that the thoughts, emotions are NOT YOURS.

therefore, you resist them ... stand against them ... healing takes place.

Yes, if you think gay means inordinately happy.

Oy. I wish folks would get informed. Sexual preference is very deep-seated. It doesn't respond to prayer or other more draconian methods either.

I think it is close-minded to rule out the possibility of mutable sexuality for some people, emphasis on some. That being said, acting as though something is wrong with a person's sexuality on the basis of something that is not in evidence is bigoted to me.

Tried that, almost killed me. It literally destroys who you are from the inside, being a gay is part of who I am, praying to change such a thing requires hatred which quickly consumes your with self hatred eventually you end up with enough hatred and loathing to try and end your own life

Of course not, if you are gay then your gay. There is nothing wrong with being gay. People need to stop trying to "fix" it and just accept some people are the way they are and just need to accept it.

Prayer is nothing more than wishful thinking talking to yourself. (or talking in a group of people who stare the same wishful thoughts). I used to be in that club. I canceled my membership.
