No, it's always best to go to the source when trying to confront anyone.
And that's not just a girl lesson, that's a life lesson.

i don't think girl 2 would be much of a help...find a different person close to girl 1 if you don't want to approach her directly. i know friends whose crushes tried to get close to them through their friends, and it doesn't always end up well unless they were already friends. ex my friend was close with my ex because he needed advice and instead we ended up breaking up, and she and my ex went out. really freaking stupid...
no, just go to girl 1 directly. you'll avoid drama and obnoxious stuff that way.

Go directly to the source (Girl 1) and talk to her. Try to get a feel if she likes you and if you still like her as much as well. Try not to get a 3rd party involved unless they are already by coming to you first.
