Why oh why did Jesus Christ HAVE to die so that we are "saved".?

To me it seems that he dies just so we can say "dear god I am sorry please forgive me in the name of Christ" if god could talk to humans why cant he just appear in front of everyone at night or something and say "if you want to be saved just pray and ask for forgiveness" so then we say"dear god I am sorry please forgive me". there isn't that a better way to make people believe in god and a more believable than all this crazy unlogical hard to believe in stuff that happened because of this Christ thing. I am an atheist and I am far away from becoming religious of any kind its just I went to a private Christian school and nothing made logical sense in bible class, and I would like to know more about this. My current idea as to why is based of any stereotypical answer to a religious question "because we just have to believe, I don't know why but we just have to believe".

First of all, spiritual matters are not and never can be "logical". Looking for logic in something that can't be seen or felt is impossible. Secondly, salvation is all about saying "I'm sorry, please forgive me.". It's that simple. What is necessary to believe about Jesus is that He IS the Son of God and our Savior, that He paid our sin debt to give us eternal life. No rules, no regulations, no demands on your time, no complicated rituals. The Holy Spirit will then change our hearts and our minds.

Because only the blood of Jesus could cover and pay for our

sin...He was the perfect "Lamb of God"...and the whole Old

Testament is a picture of what His sacrifice would mean for

    all of us.

If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive...and

God will then look at His Son, and no at our sin and allow

us into heaven with Him. It is His promise. John 3;16 and

    John 14;6

Easter is the greatest day because if God had not raised

Jesus from the dead, we would have no hope. But praise

    God...He did!

Let me answer this as best as I can from a biblical perspective.

Sin is rebellion against God. God is the Lifegiver. You cannot rebel against the Lifegiver and expect to live.... just like you cannot hate light and still be in the light. When humans (Adam and Eve) disobeyed God they forfeited their right to live. Now God had two options - either to destroy them or let them continue to live as if nothing had happened. Destroying them would result in annihilation of God's best creation, which in turn would give the victory to Satan, who was behind humans disobeying God. Allowing them to live would mean that God was not serious about what He said. In other words, His laws can be broken with impunity, which would shake the foundation of God's government and no government can function without laws. Again, this would have given the victory to Satan since he was the original law-breaker and he was expelled from heaven as a result. Punishing Satan and his associates and not punishing humans would not be fair on God's part. Keep in mind that the sin of Satan and his followers and the sin of humans was not on the same level. The sin of humans was a single of act of disobedience whereas Satan sinned through a prolonged process of rejecting God in an atmosphere where he was the closest to God. Humans did not have a fraction of the knowledge of God that Satan was privileged to have. In that sense his guilt was greater.

So both options, which would have given the victory to Satan, were out. This is where God went for the third option - one in which the punishment for breaking His law/s would be maintained, so no one could take His laws for granted, and at the same time, those who had broken God's law could be saved. God Himself would become a Man in the person of Jesus and take the punishment. Once the integrity of God's law is maintained, in that it is demonstrated what the punishment for breaking it entails, forgiveness can be offered to those who accept that punishment in their behalf, thus pledging a life of obedience to God.

That is the Gospel in a nutshell. Of course, there are many more issues involved here but this should suffice for your question.

God already tried the simple way. He gave Adam one command, not to eat a certain fruit, and Adam disobeyed. Because of Adam's disobedience, God's enemy acquired dominion over the Earth. Adam was guilty of treason, and that offense deserves death. Instead, God chose to redeem Adam and Eve by sending His own begotten son to pay that penalty. All the bible is the story of that redemption. Satan wishes you wouldn't read it, and if you do he wishes you would misunderstand it, and if you get it straight he wishes you wouldn't try to collect on the promises.

Sin is a violation of God’s law and it’s punishable by death. This was established in the Garden of Eden when God told Adam if he ate the forbidden fruit he would die (Genesis 2:16-17). Adam and Eve disobeyed God. As a result of doing so they were changed from immortal to mortal and subsequently died.

Because everyone sins, everyone must die. This is God’s Law. The only way to avoid this penalty is if someone who has never sinned agrees to die in your place. This is what Jesus did. He was the only sinless man who ever lived and He agreed to die for our sins. Now everyone who believes in Him can have eternal life (John 3:16).

Believing that Jesus died for us is the only thing God requires of us (John 6:28-29). People who don’t believe that Jesus died for them cannot be forgiven for their sins even if they ask. Therefore, seeking God’s forgiveness is not enough. We must also believe that the penalty for our sins was paid in full by the death of His son.

Because God is both good and bad he is everything. Jesus is purely good. To have forgiveness from the bad we must reach out to God through his good son Jesus Then God knows the path to him is righteous.

Its to repay for "original" sin, you know when there were only two people in the world and one took an apple from a talking snake!

Try telling that one to your shrink!

    A cover-up for Yahweh's anger issues.

It all comes down to that.

Repeat Jesus enough times, people will forget Yahweh's irrational acts.

...fiction is easy to manipulate that way, much easier than history.
