Floor problem?

What is the best solution to remove wax (or something greasy??) from a laminated floor in the kitchen. If I use something abrasive I could easily take the shine away permanently. We don't know what it is, we think either wax or very greasy......done by previous owner of the house. No, we can't ask them, they moved out of the Country.

If somebody has an easy solution, please share. We don't want to get it done professionally, unless we have to. :(

Many thanks!!

Hi Crone: We can't figure it out, as we bought the house with it there already. I can only know it is greasy, perhaps piled up wax in some areas more so? But as it is of high quality laminate, It comes with a sheen, that is why I'm afraid to use something too harsh :( :(

What is the stain actually made of? There are various stain removers, like "Goo Gone" that work on oily stains. Mineral spirits are good for some stains, too. Ask at a hardware store.
