I think it was all blown up purely for the sake of hyping the fight, but here it is.
There was one custom set of Everlast gloves that Maidana wanted to wear but the commission shut it down quickly because of the sketchy and movable padding in it, which was the right thing to do. It's honestly pretty sketchy that Maidana legitimately tried to use tampered with gloves.
Maidana then said he wanted to use standard Everlast MX 8 ouncers, which were totally okay and approved. Mayweather then started bitching about them even though they're completely legal and correct for the weight class. Floyd said he wanted Maidana to wear Grants.
Anyway, it's apparently all been resolved now. Maidanas gonna be wearing Everlasts. It was nothing but fake controversy for the media IMO.
