May 2nd according to the Associated Press - WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel threatened tough sanctions Friday on broad swaths of Russia's economy if Moscow disrupts Ukraine's May 25 presidential elections, putting President Vladimir Putin on notice for harsher penalties even if he stops short of a full invasion.

Yes they do business with each other. Everyone gets along. Why wouldnt they? The sanctions are unnecessary and will hurt both economies. But Germany must do what the U.S. tells them to do. Germany is the biggest exporter in Europe.

Whether she wants to or not, she has to be nice to Putin.

Germany has 6000 companies doing bizz with Russia. Many have plants/offices inside Russia. In Germany gubmint estimates about 300k jobs are dependent on Russian customers.

Further sanctions will be political and economic suicide.....think she knows that..

Germany is ultra practical and takes a Mercantile approach to world affairs,

They let NATO and primarily the US protect them and do the dirty work keeping them safe while they trade with Iran, Russia, and any one else who can make them money,

Generally yes. She speaks the language.

Now she and her country have joined the United States...I guess she likes what our President is saying.
