I personally can see arguments for both sides of the issue .What do you folks feel?

The general etiquette would be to call them straight, but I've run across transsexual women attracted to men online who were ambivalent about being called that, but then they were hanging around a gay men's forum so they may have had some kind of stuff going on with them anyway.
If the person you're talking to isn't savvy about this kind of stuff just say "likes men not women" or "likes women not men".

They are straight. Transsexualism (medically known as Gender Identity Dysphoria) where the brain develops of the opposite gender from what it should be. Meaning if a transsexual were born physically male their brain is female and vice versa. Therefore the relationship is a straight one.
I'm a male-to-female transsexual who likes women, so I'm a lesbian.

They would be straight, even if they used to have a body of a different gender, they don't anymore, and they don't identify as someone of their old gender.

Physically, it's gay until after they have the gender reassignment surgery. Legally, it's gay until their new birth certificate is issued.
So, for a while, legally, I was having gay vaginal sex.

They are straight.
"I personally can see arguments for both sides of the issue"
That can only be true if you deny the humanity of the person that is transgender.

Unless the person they're in a relationship with is also transgender, then they're straight. Transgender people must be thought of as members of their identified gender.

They're straight. After all they can't help their partner getting the snip.

Well... it obviously depends on who looks at it.
But I look at it this way, it's a penis going into a vagina, which is straight.
And by law, they can get their birth certificate changed to their new gender once they have their parts (in most places) and then get married their birth gender and have their info changed to their new gender and all. So it seems pretty straight to me..
