Word Count discrepency. One computer gives me a very different total Than the other. The difference is more than 1000 words.?

How is this possible? One PC gives me 38,896...and the other 37,457. Is there a logical explanation for this?

You haven't specified what program and version you are using. I will assume it is a recent version of Word.

Go to Review tab, Proofing group and click on Word Count icon. Select whether or not you wish to count the words in text boxes, footnotes, and endnotes. I suspect this is the difference in your word count.
